A New Chapter

Hello everyone!

Once again I have not added anything in awhile so I will update you on what the Barretts have been up to.

We moved to Ames, Iowa where I will finish my final 2 years of veterinary school at Iowa State University. We are now living in a mobile home right next to the vet school...so I can walk to school. It will be very handy to be close to school. I have a few friends who are living in the same mobile home park so we can walk together. :)

Ames didn't start out to be the greatest...We moved in to the foul smell of cat urine! We had to recarpet the smallest bed room. Needless to say it wasn't what we expected. We also didn't expect to put on a brand new roof either. There were several leaks and mold growing. After a roofing company put on a new roof Jim had to remove and clean mold. Then he had to do some drywall work. So much for no home improvement projects! Jim has also been busy replacing all the facets in the kitchen and the bathrooms, as well as build a new storage shed outside.

I have kept busy by trying to organize the smaller house, sewing new curtains and spending quality time with Anderson. We have been able to take walks, play at the playground and even went swimming in the mobile home park's pool. Another big project is trying to potty train our dog Tess who is now an "inside dog". It has been challenging and there have been accidents, but for the most part she just follows me around and lays at my feet.

Our next project is painting Andy's room. It currently has purple flowered wall paper. He will then be transitioning to a "big boy" bed that has Lightning McQueen! I sewed him checkered flag curtains to match his bed spread. We hope that the change isn't to tramatic.

I had my dreaded 30th birthday at the end of June. Jim took me to Vegas for a few days. Julie, Jim's sister, came along and we had lots of fun. It rained a couple days and we had to run down the strip. We watched the pirate/dancing girl show at Treasure Island, the laser light show at Fremont street, rode the roller coaster at New York, New York and lots of other things. I love Vegas. Andy got to stay with Grandma Jean and Papa Bob in Kimball.

Now we are trying to settle down before school starts. I'm looking forward to seeing my classmates and finishing school. (I really want to move back to Nebraska...I miss the Cornhusker State and "The Good Life".)

Love you all! Take care!
